How QARoof Articles Are Produced
How QARoof Articles Are Produced
QARoof is a publication of GroundRank. This page describes exactly how the answers on this site are produced. Read it before you trust anything you read here.
How we find questions
Topics come from common search behavior and from questions Seattle-area homeowners commonly ask their contractors. We update topic lists quarterly.
We don’t fabricate question counts. If you see a question on this site, it’s because real homeowners search variations of it, not because a counter ticked up.
How we write answers
Answers are structured from public roofing sources at the time of publication, including:
- Current industry standards (Owens Corning, GAF, CertainTeed, and
other manufacturer specifications)
- Building codes — the International Residential Code (IRC),
Washington State Building Code Chapter 15, and Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (DCI) requirements
- Current pricing benchmarks from public sources including HomeGuide,
Forbes Home, and Angi cost guides
- Public guidance from organizations like the National Roofing
Contractors Association (NRCA)
Every answer lists its sources at the bottom. If a claim doesn’t appear in our cited sources, we remove the claim.
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim a licensed contractor reviewed this answer. No
human contractor reviews QARoof articles before publication. We use AI-assisted editorial review against a quality rubric.
- **We don’t fabricate review counts, popularity metrics, or “asked X
times” numbers.** When you see a number on QARoof, it comes from a cited source.
- We don’t claim photographs are real. Any imagery on QARoof is
AI-generated. We don’t pretend otherwise.
- We don’t recommend specific contractors, products, or brands.
QARoof is a publication, not a service provider. We explain; we don’t sell.
Limitations to keep in mind
- Pricing varies by market and over time. Costs cited in articles
reflect Seattle-area benchmarks at the time of publication. Quotes from real contractors will differ.
- Code requirements vary by jurisdiction. Articles reference
Washington State and Seattle codes where they apply, but your specific city or county may have different requirements.
- **For decisions about your specific roof, consult a licensed
contractor in your area.** QARoof can’t see your roof, your home, or your budget. We answer general questions; we don’t give personal advice.
Updates
Articles carry a “Last updated” date in the Sources block. When material facts change — pricing, codes, manufacturer specifications — we update the article and the date. We don’t backdate updates to look fresher.
Why we publish this page
A roofing answer site that doesn’t tell you how its answers are produced is asking you to trust it on faith. We’d rather show our work.
If you find a factual error, an outdated source, or a claim that seems wrong, send it to us at the email on the GroundRank parent site. We’ll fix the article and update the “Last updated” date.
